Vicky Steptoe

Educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and has a degree from the School of Visual Communication and Art Media in Copenhagen, Denmark.

In the middle of the eighties, when people discussed whether the painting was dead, Steptoe worked exclusively with this media exhibiting several thematic works.

Later and up until today other media - such as collage, performance, installation, photo and video – have taken over part of the painting’s space.
All her works are still arranged in series, in which every picture is an independent investigation of what ever theme the artist finds fascinating. It
might be the absurd, the mythological, the beauty or the ugly, the kitschy, the dreamy, the vulnerable, or just the influence from a certain colour.

From 2001 to 2005 the artist worked also with ceramics in cooperation with Kähler’s Ceramic Factory and exhibited the results, “Cocoons”, in Copenhagen at Charlottenborg, the PRO exhibition 2005 and later the is sold as a decoration to the hall of the Neurosearch building.
From 2000 to 2008 Vicky Steptoe has for the most part exhibited in greater group exhibitions at art centres and museums in both Denmark and abroad.
